Paragragh1
My first immpressions of Junior was that I thought he was rather hard on himself. Always looking at the negative in his life instead of the positive. However I can understand why, it becomes VERY difficult to look at what you have, especially when it isn't very much. It makes it even more difficult when other people are hard on you as well. Especially when they do this ONLY for the reason that he is different. I don't think he really allows his disability to get in his way, simply because he finds something that he is good at.....which is drawing..... and he uses that to make it easier for other people to understand him and his point that he is trying to get across at that particulare time. I am sure that at times he uses that to hide behind, because when people look at a drawing they can't tell who drew it and no one would pre-judge him for a condition which is out of his control. I feel that people keep diaries to help them through hard times in thier lives, I never really kept one untill after I got better from my own experience with brain surgery. I mostly wrote in it when I was frusterated because there were so many things I couldn't do any more. People can be VERY cruel when they see a girl in a wheel chair, drooling, with no hair, wearing a helmet as I was. Now I refere to that diary when I can't do something, just to remind me what I have been through alot and that I will make it through...whatever I happen to be going through. I guess that ties into the next paragrph though. The words "absolutely true" are significant because that is EXACTLY what he is telling us....the truth!
Paragraph2
As I said I used to write in a diary, however now I only reflect on some of the things I wrote in it for the confidence that I need. Mostly now my "life boats" are my kids. When life seems to get too hard and I feel as though I can't do it, I remind myself that the ONLY reason I do any of it, is them!
Pargraph3
"I mean, they've alway's known that I'm wierd and ambitious, so maybe they expect me to do the wierdest things possible." (Alexie 46)
I feel that this sentence has importance because it is the moment that he relizes his parents will support him, no matter his choices, or where those choices might take him. Usually for a teenager to get the support of their parents it takes more than just a question, and I am sure it takes more for him due to all of the variables, he has a disability and gets beat up all the time beacuse of it, he is Indian going to an in town school, and transportation will be difficult, But his parents didn't even hessitate. Because as parents they know that eventhough this may be a little crazy, it would be the best for him.
